TUES11 - What is ESG and Why it Matters to Corporate Tax Departments

Oct 26, 2021 3:30pm ‐ Oct 26, 2021 4:30pm

Description

The Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) movement brings a reporting environment of greater public transparency into the management and control of tax affairs. Our esteemed panelists have designed this session to provide in-house tax professionals with a more informed understanding of the ESG movement and how it pertains to tax reporting. A general discussion of ESG reporting will flow into a discussion of the evolving landscape, regulatory trends, and tax reporting references. Our panelists’ interactive dialog will convey that it’s ultimately about being better prepared to build an ESG strategy by actively engaging stakeholders, aligning with broader organization initiatives, assessing readiness, identifying gaps, and developing a plan of execution to meet mandatory and/or voluntary disclosure needs.

At the conclusion of this course, participants should:

  • Have a more informed understanding of the evolving ESG landscape, regulatory trends, and tax reporting references;
  • Understand the fundamentals of building an ESG strategy as it pertains to tax matters;
  • Be aware of how companies have addressed ESG tax matters through actively engaging stakeholders, aligning with broader organization initiatives, assessing readiness, identifying gaps, and developing a plan of execution to meet mandatory and/or voluntary disclosure needs.
